How Lindy Receive $1.3 Million For False Imprisonment

Azaria Chamberlain was a nine-week-old Australian baby girl who was killed by a dingo on 17 August 1980 during a family camping trip. Her body was never found.

Her parents, Lindy and Michael Chamberlain, reported that she had been taken from their tent by a dingo but nobody believed them.

Lindy was tried for murder and spent more than three years in prison despite no evidence to support she had a hand in her disappearance. Michael was also put in jail for some time.

She was released from prison in 1986 after Azaria’s jacket was discovered in an area where numerous dingo lived. After her release, she was paid $1.3 million for false imprisonment.
